Mission and values
SOS Grossesse is an independent community organization whose main mission is to welcome and support, in complete confidentiality, anyone directly or indirectly concerned by situations relating to pregnancy, whether planned or unplanned. This includes the various possible outcomes of a pregnancy: continuation, adoption and termination, as well as contraception, the absence of a pregnancy and perinatal bereavement. Under no circumstances do we take the place of the individual in making decisions that concern him or her.
In an empowerment approach1 and in line with humanist philosophy2 and the notion of free choice3SOS Grossesse aims to :
- Listening to, supporting and equipping people who contact the organization
- Prevent, inform and raise awareness about unplanned pregnancies
- Educate and promote positive sexual health.
- Promote access to contraception, abortion and fertility services.
- Defend and promote women’s reproductive rights and freedom of choice.
SOS Grossesse is founded on the following values:
Freedom of choice
Freedom of choice refers to the recognition of the right of women and trans and non-binary people to make a free and informed decision for themselves regarding pregnancy. Freedom of choice implies neutrality when it comes to providing support for the various possible outcomes of a pregnancy, at all times.
Consideration
Consideration refers to the notion of respect for the Other as a whole, and non-judgment in the face of reflections, decisions and questions about the situation in question. This value refers to taking the Other into account, believing in the potential of each individual and their ability to make decisions for themselves.
Professionalism
Professionalism refers to the attitudes and skills required of SOS Grossesse employees and volunteers. This value corresponds to rigorous analysis and reflection, ethical practice, confidentiality, commitment to people and the organization, concern for continuous development and the introspection that the organization and its players must demonstrate at all times.
