Member definitions

S.O.S. Grossesse has five membership categories: solidarity members, committed‧e‧s members, volunteer members, employee‧e‧s members and organization/partner members.

Membership process

To become or remain a member of S.O.S. Grossesse, a person must :

  1. Sign up by completing and signing a membership form. This form is valid for one year, unless the individual informs us in writing of his or her wish to withdraw before the expiry of this period. At the end of each membership period, a new form must be completed to continue participating in the organization’s associative and democratic life.
  2. Conditions for all members:
    • Adhere to the organization’s mission and values
    • Be 18 years of age or older‧e
    • Comply with the organization’s by-laws, internal regulations and ethical guidelines
    • Sign the membership form and respect the commitments associated with each membership category
    • Agree to be entered in the organization’s membership register

Member categories

Members in solidarity

Supportive members of S.O.S. Grossesse support the organization’s mission without wanting to become actively involved. They can share their ideas about the organization and its mission, but have no voting rights. They have access to promotional items, documentation and news of the organization’s activities.

Joint members must :

Members engaged‧e‧s

Committed‧e‧s members actively support S.O.S. Grossesse’s mission and participate more actively in the life of the organization. They have the right to take part in discussions, vote at the Annual General Meeting, and contribute to democratic orientations and consultations. They benefit from promotional items, access to association activities and documentation, and are encouraged to promote S.O.S. Grossesse.

Volunteer members

Volunteer members are essential to S.O.S. Grossesse, participating in the various types of support and/or sitting on the Board of Directors. They play an active role in the services offered, as well as in the organization’s associative and democratic life. They have the right to take part in discussions, vote at general meetings and contribute to orientations and consultations.

Employee‧e‧s members

Members employed‧e‧s are the individuals who make up S.O.S. Grossesse’s salaried work team. They have the right to speak and make proposals at the Annual General Meeting, as well as at policy meetings and other democratic consultations.

Members Organizations/Partners

Organization/partner members include any recognized community organization in Quebec, as well as schools or school boards in the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions. Each organization or partner must designate a‧e representative‧e who has the right to speak at meetings, but without the right to vote. The‧a representative‧e cannot become a member of the Board of Directors. Organization/partner members have priority access to S.O.S. Grossesse’s training courses and workshops, with the option of booking first.
